About MeCompassion Focussed Therapy Therapist, Mental Health First Aid Instructor, Author and Speaker
What Qualifies Me to Help You?

I’ve always been fascinated by people.

I am a qualified and experienced Compassion Focussed Therapy Therapist.

I deliver supportive, informative, and enjoyable mental health first aid training with genuine passion, experience, compassion and empathy.

I’ve progressed through sales and leadership roles, founded businesses and charities and served in Ordained Christan Pastoral ministry.

My mission is to empower people to live healthy, compassionate, balanced, and fulfilling lives through compassion focussed therapy, training, speaking, and writing.

My Experience

My Journey

For most of my life, I was caught up in the hustle, unable to sit still or fully appreciate what I had. I constantly worked towards the next goal, trying to do it all. In January 2014 I was diagnosed with burnout and depression I stopped for the first time in my working life. Unburdened by the distractions of a job and ‘normal life’, I was introduced to Compassion Focussed Therapy. I experienced greater clarity and learned the true value of compassion and being present.

I decided to follow my purpose: to use my passion, skills, and experience to help people live their best lives.

When I began therapy I realised how many motivated people also struggle to guiltlessly switch off and find a balance between work and life. Since then, I’ve been empowering driven people like you (and me) to find a balance in life so they can thrive.

My Life Now

As well as training as a Compassion Focussed Therapist and Mental Health First Aid Instructor. I love learning new things and being active. I enjoy visits to the gym, meditation, tending my allotment, holidays, walking, reading and writing and times with my family.

I now live in York with my wife of forty years Alison with our golden retriever George.

My Values

I believe that we have a duty to make the most of our lives and all the opportunities and gifts we are blessed with.

To me, making the most of life means appreciating what we have while, seeking meaningful experiences, growth and ways to positively contribute to the world.

My four key values are compassion, integrity, balance, and growth. Seeing whenever possible to align my life to them. Ensuring that I am becoming the person I want to be and living the life I believe in.

My Five Rules Life

Five beliefs that help me live a healthy, balanced and fulfilling life.

1: Everything is a matter of perspective. Choose perspectives that benefit you and others.

2: Rather than criticising others, see what you can learn from them.

3: Develop compassion for yourself and others.

4: Always look for win-win outcomes – benefitting yourself and others

5: Focus on working smarter, not harder
